Today I am, again, learning more about emptiness - about "reality." I found an audiobook at the library titled The Buddha's Noble Eightfold Path by Urgyen Sangharakshita.  I think I have passed over this book many times thinking I would not like it, but I was very wrong.  This is a great book (or maybe I'm in the right place at the right time for it. )

The thing that I feel I almost "saw" was the "emptiness of emptiness" the idea that there is nothing permanent, certain, or 'self existent' about anything - everything changes, everything is made up of something else, everything can be seen as good or bad.  Even this beautiful tree covered in ice can be seen as a threat to power lines, cars or people passing underneath as the wind blows large chunks of sharp, dense heavy ice in every direction.

No camera I own could capture how amazing they looked in "real life."

Fantastic Fantastical Day

Today is a fantastic day.

I have so much that I can't believe how long I have gone without noticing and appreciating this abundance.

I have people and resources surrounding me that are encouraging me to do great things. I am deeply grateful to all of them.

It is now my responsibility to make the best of all that has been given to me. And to continue to notice the ever present and always increasing abundance that is flowing to each of us.

As long as I am breathing I am receiving.

I have more than enough at this moment...

I have more than enough (money, wealth, food) at this moment...

And I am gaining more and more of God's abundance all the time.

The universe, God, source energy is always flowing towards me and each and everyone of us.

There are so many examples of this that it's both frustrating and surprising that it takes this long to see it. The trick is to maintain this outlook. You ( and I) have to tell our Self that the universe, source energy, life itself provides each and every one of us with everything we could possibly need. We simply have to repeat this to ourselves over and over again until it becomes second nature. A habit we don't even think about. We just know it.

The thing that helps this process the most is watching. Watching. Watching.
Watching yourself, and watching others. Watch what happens when you do what you love.

Watch what happens when you listen to YouTube videos that you love.

Watch what happens when you create things that you love and you give that to others.

The more you can watch, and align yourself with gratitude and happiness, the better you will feel and the more easily the feeling of abundance will flow to you.

Here and Now

What's right in front of you doesn't exist.

And yet what's right in front of you is all there is.

Your thoughts are The results of how you see things around you and interpret words and ideas you hear.

And yet all these words and all these things that stimulate your thoughts were not here at all millions of years ago and will no longer be here millions of years from now.

So in any eternal sense of reality none of these things are real mainly because they are not lasting.

And if we hold the ideas about these things and we are not lasting how can any of our ideas to be real?

Some people say there is a God who outlasts all these things in this God holds the ideas that are eternal. That may be true but if this god is beyond my ability to understand and beyond my ability to communicate with I don't feel that I get much to help me right now other than through the ideas of others going through the exact same thing I'm going through.

Others can tell me their belief in God helped them through troubled marriages or difficult working situations. I might hear those ideas and try those same things out. But there is no question in my mind that those ideas came from another man or woman not from God. If people want me to try to have faith that these ideas did come from God and not men, I would have to ask, "Why does God speak to some and not to others if this God loves everyone equally and gives unconditionally?" If this God requires me and others to prove that we are worthy of his direct audience for communication or relationship I don't understand the unconditional all giving part.

I have tried to understand it. Maybe this is a test. Maybe this is some form of punishment. Maybe this test or punishment requires that I endure this without really knowing why I was here.maybe that was to enhance the effect.

And yet there are so many confident successful people who appear to me to be spiritually grounded in the sense  that they are much more open, accepting, calm, healthy, happy, and wealthy. These gifted and fortunate people seem to emphasize that ANYONE who is relaxed and open can tap into this peaceful and rich life.

I am here.

What do you want to do?

What do you want to do?

How can anyone lead spiritually?
How can anyone pretend there are answers when ultimately it's all a dream.
It's all a figment of our own imagination.
And yet it's not.
There is something real out there.
What you call it and how you use it is up to you.
There are only temporary truths that help you get through the day.
Maybe being a spiritual leader is simply to pass on the things that have been helping you at the time.
But then what if that changes and you don't see the change and you are getting stuck in a rut and don't change. You keep beating that horse that already died as of it were the only way to carry you and all your followers out of their temporary hell. But you go nowhere. So people leave. And you either change or you stay in your hell where you and your followers are trapped.

Who made you the leader anyway? We are all leaders.

We can all be great followers or great leaders. What do you want to do?
